How to Repair Your Wallpaper
Just because you have some minor issues or problems with your wallpaper, doesn’t mean you have to take it all down and start over. Some wallpaper problems can be repaired quickly and easily.
-
Step 1
To repair loose wallpaper edges and seams, gently pull back on the edge or seam, take care not to rip the wallpaper. Run a wet sponge over the back of the lifted piece to remove excess dried glue. Use a small brush such as an artist brush to put a thin coat of wallpaper paste, put the seam or edge back in its place and smooth down with a clean damp rag.
-
Step 2
To fix a wallpaper bubble, use a razor blade or a craft knife such as an X-Acto Knife, carefully cut an “X” in the center of the bubble, lift the edges, with a small artist paint put on a thin coat of wallpaper paste and smooth with a clean damp rag.
-
Step 3
To fix a hole or rip in the wallpaper, tear a piece of wallpaper that will fit over the hole. Do not cut the piece with scissors or a knife because sharp even edges can be seen easier than uneven edges. Carefully tear away loose edges that have come away from the wall. Paint wallpaper paste onto the back of the torn patch put in place, matching the design as close as possible and smooth with a clean damp rag.
