How to Fix a Jacuzzi
Jacuzzis are a brand name of whirlpool spas and hot tubs. The moniker has become commonly used when referring to any brand of whirlpools, hot tubs or any other types of baths with water jets. These soothing tubs relax and massage sore, tired muscles and can even be romantic. However, if your Jacuzzi is not working, it will not do any of that. Try some troubleshooting on your own before you call an expensive repair tech.
Things You'll Need:
- Fuses
- Heating element
- Filters
- Garden hose with spray nozzle
- Thermostat
- Heating contact
- O-rings
- Wrench
- Replacement tank
-
Step 1
Try to turn on the Jacuzzi. If it does not power on, check the power source and circuit
breaker . Reset the GFCI button. If it still does not turn on, replace the fuse. -
Step 2
Feel the temperature of the water. If the spa runs but the water does not heat up, turn the thermostat clockwise. Turn to "Thermostat" mode. If it does not heat after two hours, replace the heating element.
-
Step 3
Look at your filter. If your filter requires changing more than once every two or three months, make sure you are cleaning the Jacuzzi regularly and properly. Do not use soap-based cleaning products, and don't wear skin creams or oils in the Jacuzzi. Spray the filter off with a high pressure hose weekly.
-
Step 4
Test the water temperature. If the water is staying too hot, turn the thermostat counterclockwise. If this causes it to cool down, replace the thermostat. If it does not cool down, replace the heater contact.
-
Step 5
Look for a water leak. If it appears that your Jacuzzi is losing water, find the source of the leak. Replace damaged O-rings or tighten fixtures that have come loose. If there is a crack in the tank, it will have to be replaced.
