The heating element is the part of your Kenmore dryer that warms the air inside of the drum, so that your clothes dry faster due to tumbling and heating. If a dryer is no longer heating up, there could be multiple components that have gone bad including fuses and other electrical connections. However if you have narrowed the culprit down to the heating element you can easily replace it without calling the repairman

1. Step 1

   Unplug the dryer and pull it away from the wall.

2. Step 2

   Use the screwdrivers to remove the screws in the back panel. Pull the panel off and set it aside.

3. Step 3

   Then locate the cylindrical canister that houses the heating element on the right side of the Kenmore dryer.

4. Step 4

   Unplug the element wires with the needle nose-nosed pliers and the limit thermostat wires that are just above them. If your model of Kenmore dryer is equipped with thermal fuse wires you will need to unplug those now, too.

5. Step 5

   Remove the 5/16-inch hex screw at the top of cylinder and the strap holding it in place.

6. Step 6

   Pull the cylinder out and then remove the screw on the inside of the canister that holds the heating element in place.

7. Step 7

   Slide the old heating element out of the canister and then slide the new one in its place. Tighten down the mounting screw and then reverse these steps to reassemble the dryer.
