Now many of these lights come in solar versions, so that you are not using any additional electricity. However, after a while, solar lights are notorious for not working any longer. This is especially true of the lower cost ones which so many people buy to beautify their homes. - Aluminum Foil
- NiCad Rechargeable Batteries

Step 1
Obviously, the first thing you want to do is change out the battery. Batteries don't last forever and if you can't remember when you last changed it, then chances are good that it's dead. Be sure to use NiCad batteries. Although these cost more, they are rechargeable and have a much longer lifespan than other batteries.

Step 2
If you replace the batteries and the solar light still does not light up, then the problem may be the connection terminal. To fix this, first remove the battery.

Then take a small piece of aluminum foil folded up and place next to either or both of the battery terminals in the solar light.

Replace the battery and your solar light should be fully functional.
