How to Repair a Damaged Inner Tube of a Bike Tire

A bike wheel has an inner tube full of air. If you get a puncture, you'll have to replace or repair this tube with a puncture repair kit. Learning how to repair a puncture in a bike wheel will come in handy if you don't have a spare one with you.

Things You'll Need:

  • wax crayon
  • piece of sandpaper
  • small tube of cement
  • bike wheel repair patch
  • chalk
  1. Step 1

    Use the wax crayon to draw a circle around the punctured hole in the inner tube so you can see it easily.

  2. Step 2

    Sand the smooth surface of the inner tube around the hole with the sandpaper to make it rough.

  3. Step 3

    Spread a small amount of cement around the hole. Leave it to dry for five minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Remove the foil backing from the patch and stick it over the hole. Leave it to dry for five more minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Peel off the cellophane covering of the patch. Rub the chalk ovr the sandpaper to make dust. Sprinkle chalk dust over the patch to soak up any extra glue.
