How to Fix Streaky Floor Wax

Using floor wax can help bring new life to a dingy or faded surface. After applying proper waxing techniques, you'll have beautiful, shiny floors that look like new, but if not applied correctly, floor wax can actually cause more harm than good when it comes to the appearance of your floors. One common issue is streaky floor wax. If you end up with a streaky finish after waxing, there are ways to fix it. Burnishing the floor's surface may work, and stripping the floor and refinishing it is a last resort for removing streaks.Instructions

* Standard mop
* Black floor pad

Stripping
1.

Pour floor stripper into the mop bucket, filling it about halfway.
3.
Step 3

Dip your standard mop into the bucket of floor stripper, and wring it out lightly.
4.
Step 4

Apply the floor stripper to the floor with the standard mop using a figure-eight motion.
5.
Step 5

Allow the stripper to sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
6.
Step 6

Place a black floor pad on your floor machine and move the machine back and forth across the floor, spending extra time on high-traffic areas.
7.
Step 7

Remove the stripper from the floor using your wet dry vacuum.
8.
Step 8

Rinse the floor once with warm water and twice with cold water.
9.
Step 9

Apply new finish.
Burnishing
10.
Step 1

Remove all dirt and debris from the floor's surface using your dust mop.
11.
Step 2

With your burnishing floor pad, polish the areas of the floor that show streaks. If the burnishing pad works, the floor will look shiny and not streaky.
12.
Step 3

Again, use your dust mop to remove all remaining debris, such as particles of dust and floor finish.
