How to Remove the Road Paint From a Vehicle
If you've had to drive through construction, your vehicle may have the battle scars to prove it. Overspray or road paint in bright yellow or white may be decorating the rocker panels of your vehicle. However, you don't have to live with the paint. Road paint can be easily removed. But since road paint contains tiny, reflective shards of glass, the key is in not damaging the finish of your car as you remove the paint.
Things You'll Need:
- WD-40
- Petroleum jelly
Wash your car at a car wash with a pressure washing wand to remove fresh paint.
-
Step 2
Allow your vehicle to dry, and then spray the road paint splatters with WD-40. Wait two hours and then wash at a car wash with a pressure washing wand again to remove loosened road paint. Repeat this process again if needed.
-
Step 3
Apply petroleum jelly to heavy concentrations of road paint. Allow the petroleum jelly to sit on the painted surface overnight. Rinse with a pressure wash. Repeat the process as needed.
