When a fuse blows, your electric dryer could suffer various problems. If you know how to check and replace a fuse, you could save a lot of money on repair bills or replacements.

Step 1 - Unplug the Appliance
The first things you should do when working on any appliance is to make sure it is no longer connected to any electricity. This will help prevent you from becoming harmed and also protect your unit from becoming damaged through an electrical surge.

If for any reason you can’t unplug your electric dryer, you may want to consider turning off your electricity altogether before you begin work.
Step 2 - Check Your User’s Manual
If you still have your user’s manual, it is a good idea to check it for the location of your fuse box and tips about understanding it. Many user’s manuals will even include a troubleshooting guide that may help you narrow down which fuse needs to be replaced. If you no longer have your user’s manual, you may be able to find one or information about your particular model on the Internet. If not, look around on your electric dryer for a panel that may cover a fuse box.
Step 3 - Open the Fuse Box and Check the Fuses
Most fuse boxes on electric dryers will require a screwdriver to release the cover, though some may be set up so you can slide the cover out. However your fuse box is set up, you will want to make sure that you open your fuse box carefully so that you do not accidentally damage your machine.
Once your fuse box is open check to see if the circuit breaker has been tripped first. If it has, you can reset it so that your dryer will begin working again without having to replace any fuses.
Because fuses may change from manufacturer to manufacturer, it is a good idea to research how to tell if your particular fuses have failed or not. Usually you can tell by looking at them and seeing if the interior metal pieces are still connected or not. If they are disconnected, you may need to replace the fuse.
Once you have checked the circuit breaker and the fuse box, you can plug your appliance back in and check to see if it works.
Step 4 - Check the Wall Plug
If you do not see any problems with the fuse box or the circuit breaker, you will need to check the power of your wall socket that the electric dryer is plugged into. Set up a voltmeter to the wall socket carefully. In most cases, you will need to have a reading of 240 volts to ensure you have enough of a charge to power your electric dryer.
If these steps do not solve your problems, you may need to consider additional repair or replacement of your unit.
