How to Rent a Car Without a Credit Card
Need to rent a car but don't have a credit card? Most car rental agencies require that you leave a hefty deposit on a credit card in order to rent any vehicle. However, there is a way around this.
Things You'll Need:
- Debit card
- Cash
- Proof of insurance
- Drivers license
-
Step 1
Call a few different rental car agencies and ask if they will accept a deposit from a debit card instead of a credit card. Enterprise rent a car will except a $300 deposit from a debit card if you don't have a credit card. It can sometimes be a pain as they often hold the funds for up to a week even after you have returned the car.
-
Step 2
Head to the rental car agency and fill out the necessary paper work. Make sure to bring a valid drivers license, debit card, and proof of insurance along with you.
-
Step 3
Bring back the car with the same amount of gas that was in it when you rented it. If you bring it back any lower they will deduct the price of their gas - which is normally triple the current price of gas per gallon - from your rental deposit.
-
Step 4
Wait up to a week for your funds(deposit) to be available again. Sometimes it's less than a week, sometimes more, it just depends on the rental car companies policy.
